frequently asked questions 1) What will be covered by this FAQ? All sorts of things relating to web sites and web site design, from why you need a web site to what is involved in creating one. And maybe a bit about me. 2) When will this FAQ be finished? I don't think it will ever be finished as things are always changing on the internet, but there should be something of note in this space SOON. 3) What do those colourful little boxes with the check marks at the bottom of the page mean? They mean that I have taken the care to ensure that all of the coding underlying the web site is compliant with the standards set out by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Unfortunately some browsers are a tad idiosynchratic in how they render pages, so the best I can do is ensure my code is squeaky clean. 4) Did you have any formal training in this field? Yes, I learned HTML and how to use the programs to create content at George Brown College, and attained a Web Foundation Certificate, or something like that - I never got around to picking up the bit of paper I earned. 5) Do you have any other academic credentials? Yes, I have a BA from University of Toronto in American Studies. I also went to art college for a year, and have a vague recollection of studying archaeology for a year a long, long time ago. 6) How long have you been doing this? Using skills honed during the aforementioned year of archaeological studies, I unearthed a file dated January 5, 2002, which is related to a site that wasn't my first, so a good guess would be since 2001. • • •
